CTE Construction Technology Teacher
The position of a CTE Construction Technology Teacher will be available at East Central ISD for the 2025-2026 school year. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the Construction Technology program to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Direct and manage Construction Technology laboratory. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the daily operation of the Construction Technology laboratory.
- Keep informed with and comply with federal, state, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers and related to occupational areas.
- May calculate, compile, and record cash receipts and maintain complete and systematic records of financial transactions that result from the operation of simulated businesses. Ensure that operations are cost-effective and funds are managed wisely.
- Oversee SkillsUSA Program participation including, but not limited to fundraising, events, competitions, practices, etc.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to the instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certificate:
Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wage-earning experience for certification
Valid Texas career and technical education teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
Demonstrated competency in the construction technology subject area
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Construction Technology
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
One year student teaching or approved internship OR
Two to five years of wage-earning experience in Construction Trades
EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; the equipment required to demonstrate and perform tasks related to construction technology
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Work prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15 to 44 pounds). May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven walking services; around machinery with moving parts. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. May be exposed to chemical or biological hazards; regular exposure to noise; may require district-wide travel.

SALARY: Based on the 2025-2026 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale
