Job Position: Theatre/Drama Teacher

Location: Rockford, IL 61107
Pay Rate: W2, hourly; starting at $32/hour & up (based on experience)

Description:

Are you passionate about inspiring students through theatre arts and helping them develop confidence, creativity, and self-expression? We are seeking a dedicated Theatre/Drama Teacher for a full-time, school-year position. This role offers the opportunity to create engaging and meaningful theatrical experiences while fostering collaboration, communication skills, artistic growth, and a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality drama instruction, encourage student participation, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

What you’ll need:

  • Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License) with appropriate Theatre/Drama endorsement or related certification as required

  • Experience teaching theatre, drama, or performing arts in an educational setting preferred

  • Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate lessons

  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills

  • Passion for theatre education and student achievement

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster students’ creativity, performance skills, and appreciation for the performing arts

  • Teach foundational theatre concepts, including acting, improvisation, stage presence, character development, and theatrical storytelling

  • Incorporate movement, voice, collaboration, and performance-based activities as appropriate

  • Assess and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Prepare students for productions, performances, showcases, or other theatre-related events when applicable

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and administrators to support student success
